OK, so this was too funny a coincidence to let it go by and not blog!
I was logged into a Unix box, and tried switch to root (mind you I didn’t have the password). So I try a [random] password, and I get back the infamous phrase from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey:

“Just what do you think you’re doing, Dave?”

Thought it was quite funny, and I headed over to IMDB.com and low and behold, the movie premiered (in NYC, Wash DC doesn’t count, right!?) on April 3, 1968! Ok, it’s geeky, nerdy, whatever. But I couldn’t help but think: I’m *so* blogging this!

Ed Brill has blogged externally about Mike Rhodin’s move onto General Manager, IBM Northeast Europe. Ed writes about Lotus’ new General Manager:

“Bob Picciano, who has been the Vice President of Sales for Information Management (the DB2 brand). As far as I can remember, we have not had a Lotus GM come in from a sales role.”

I guess it can ony make sense. Lotus has probably it’s strong portfolio in a very long time. So the technology is in place, the portfolio is as strong as it’s ever been with the new Notes 8 client, rock-solid Lotus Domino 8, Lotus Connections, Sametime family of products, and Quickr. I can only hope for stronger sales and more agressive (in the good way marketing from Lotus. Not only in the US, but also in Brazil and other geos. We surely need better sales and marketing efforts here in Brazil.

When working in the “Files” tab of the Domino Administrator client, there should be an option to right-click on a database and “Copy database location to clipboard” to be able to paste it in a console command if necessary.
