Sametime Hot fix available for instant messages received by an unintended recipient

April 7th, 2009

IBM/Lotus has identified an issue in Lotus Sametime Connect 8.0.1 Standard Client and Notes 8.0.2 Integrated Client (Gold/CCH1/CCH2) where an instante message intended for one recipient is actually received by another one:

This problem tends to occur after the server has been restarted. Users may experience the following symptoms:

  • Instant messages are received by the wrong user.
  • Some users might receive error code 0×80000005 when opening a chat with another user.

After users restart the Sametime Connect or Notes standard clients, the cross chat issue does not reoccur.

Please be sure to check Technote 1375473 – Instant messages are received by an unintended recipient for additional information on obtaining the hotfix.

Service Pack 2 do Windows Server 2003 afeta negativamente servidores Lotus Domino e Sametime

February 19th, 2008

A IBM publicou recentemente o technote 1295167 – Domino and Sametime performance issues traced to Windows Server 2003 Scalable Networking Pack. Se você está observando problemas de performance com seus servidores Domino ou Sametime após aplicar o Service Pack 2 do Windows 2003, siga as instruções contidas no technote para solucionar esse problema:

The following will resolve the problem:

1. Disable SNP features in accordance with Microsoft’s instructions. Note that Registry edits may be required. See Microsoft article 912222 for details.

2. Ensure that the server’s NIC does not enable TCP off-loading (which may be labeled “TCO”, “TCP Chimney Offload,” or “TCP Checksum Offload.”)

3. The following Windows Registry Key can be Disabled to turn off the Chimney Offload feature:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip
\Parameters\EnableTCPChimney

via Notes from Lotus Support.

Help needed: Sametime 8 server installer says server.id has a password

January 10th, 2008

I’m doing a fresh new install of a Sametime 8 server environment on top of a new Domino 8 install. Server is installed as standard, out of the box settings, no server.id password is set. Start Domino 8 server, and it runs fine. However, the Sametime 8 installer swears the server.id has a password on it:

The install detected that the Domino server ID is password protected. This password is required to complete the Sametime server configuration. Enter the password, and choose Next to validate the password.

I’ve gone into the ID Properties to double check, no password is defined. Has anyone run into this before? Haven’t had an issue with Sametime 7.5.1.

UPDATE:
Thanks to Chris Gambrell for the tip on the STSkipDominoPasswordCheck=true environment variable which did the trick.
